Pets Enjoy Peterna's Taste

A trial was conducted to confirm that PETerna® is palatable and attractive to the dogs. The palatability of PETerna® was tested in 30 healthy dogs, aged 6 months to 12 years of age (average 5.4 years). In this trial each dog was offered its regular ration of commercial dog food, or its regular ration sprinkled with PETerna®. The dose fed was 5 grams of PETerna® per Imperial cup of dog food.

As shown in Table 1, twenty-nine of the 30 dogs tested (97%) readily ate their regular food sprinkled with the PETerna®. Furthermore, owners of 11 dogs reported that their pets clearly preferred the PETerna® -supplemented diet to their regular diet.

In a second phase of the study, owners were asked to maintain their dogs on PETerna® for 30 days and report any observed changes. These dogs were fed PETerna® daily, for 30 days, at a dose of approximately 5 grams per Imperial cup of dry dog food. Even within the relatively short duration of this trial, the owners reported beneficial effects in 33% of the dogs; including improved appetite (3 dogs), improved hair coat (5 dogs) (Table 2). The owner of one dog also reported firmer feces as a result of PETerna® supplementation.
